Let’s Talk Bookish: November 13th

Hello, everyone! It’s that time of week again! Let’s Talk Bookish is, as described by one of the creators, as a “weekly meme, hosted by me (Rukky @ Eternity Books) & Dani @ Literary Lion, where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts.”.

Let’s get into it…

When are reading breaks a good idea?

Suggested by Lydia @ Lydia Schoch.

For me, I never plan my reading breaks. Nor do I make myself not read.

If I have the drive to read a book, there is no stopping me. If I don’t, I’m not gonna find a whole lot of enjoyment in the book. My reading breaks come with lack of motivation. Though it doesn’t happen often, it does happen.

I think reading breaks are a good idea, but only when you wish not to read. Do NOT hold yourself from reading thinking that “taking a break” is healthy for you. (Unless, you may have more pressing matters, of course. Prioritize.) Let yourself read when you “feel the thirst”.

Of course, there are people who don’t want to read, but once they pick up a book, they realize that they DO want to read. I am not this person, so I am just answering according to my experiences with reading breaks.

Thanks Rukky and Dani for doing this meme! It is a fun way to bring book bloggers together!

I hope y’all enjoyed today’s post. What are your thoughts on the question? Do experience the same “push” to read, or do you experience something completely different? Let me know! Thanks for reading! God bless!

I have the deepest affection for intellectual conversations. The ability to just sit and talk. About love, life, anything, and everything.

  1. Same here, I don’t plan reading breaks… You made a really good point about taking a break not necessarily being the healthiest for you, I could resonate with that a lot !

  2. I absolutely agree with you! I don’t plan them or force myself to read. I always have a growing TBR and breaks do not seem like a good choice😂 Even if I wanted to take a break, I’d still have to read my textbooks. Wonderful post, Millay!

  3. I personally don’t take reading breaks in the way the question would probably define it. I don’t stop reading books, but I do slow down reading books. For me, a break would be reading 5 books in a month instead of 15. It feels like a break, but I’m still reading when I feel like it.
