WHAT MAKES A GOOD SEQUEL? (M.T. WILSON @ THE LAST BOOK ON THE LEFT)
What do you like to see in sequels?
Good story and good characters continued. 😉
Are there any sequels you liked more than the first book?
The Story Raider (only barely though), Catching Fire (again only barely! They were all good!), …and several others.
What makes some sequels disappointing?
The good characters and storylines completely and utterly trashed.
Do you feel like most sequels are worse than the original, or is that just an old wives tale?
It seems pretty 50/50 to me.
Do you get excited about sequels or do you prefer standalones?
Heck, yeah, I get excited about sequels!!
What about you guys? Are sequels pretty hit or miss? Or do they unfailingly impress y’all? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading! God bless!
Ciao.
Worry is worshipping the problem.

I think one of the things which is make or break for me in a sequel is the continued development of a character while still staying true to their nature. I hate when characters do things out of character in the sequels, or have unrealistic changes. Saying that, I also want them to continue growing and changing slowly. It’s honestly the hardest thing to get right for me in sequels.

Yeah!!! That is so true! I hate it when authors COMPLETELY change a character in a sequel and just slap on “oh, it’s a character arc”….um…not it is not! Ugh, I feel the same way! Great point, Anne! Thanks for reading.
