Hello! Hope you all are doing well as we inch closer to August…I can’t believe that is happening. I feel like it was March a month ago!
DOES HAVING A POSITIVE MESSAGE AUTOMATICALLY MAKE A BOOK GOOD? (RUKKY)
If you see good representation in a bad story, do you still consider it a good book?
No, I will give credit where it is due, but if there were no good characters, too many plot holes, and a TERRIBLE storyline, I will NOT say that the book was good. I’ll say that the message in it was good, but that was the only worthwhile part.
Are you more lenient with an ‘okay’ book if it has an important message?
I try and rest on the positive in all things, even in my book reviews…so, maybe I will be a LITTLE lenient…but, still, like I said, I try to give credit where it is good. For instance, The Wilderking Trilogy’s message is great for it is allegorical…but the books aren’t really that good. I say that in my reviews even! Okay, the first one was good, but the other two…meh.
How do you deal with a book that you disliked/hated if you think it still has an important theme?
Do you think we should actively recommend books with positive/important messages even if we personally didn’t like the book?
I’m still freaking out that it is getting really close to August…like, what the heck? Do y’all have any thoughts about this topic? Let me know in the comment section! Thanks for reading! God bless!
