Book Tag Tuesday: Unpopular Opinions Tag

Hello! Happy second week of September! Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy today. Meanwhile, I will be doing an Unpopular Opinions Tag here on my blog. I’ve seen this kinda all over the place and decided I wanted to do it too. So, here I go!

P.S. If you don’t agree with me on many of these opinions, I’d love to strike up a little friendly banter! So, don’t hesitant to confront me. MWAHAHA!! *that’s my evil laughter* 😉

Shout out to the original creator over on Youtube, TheBookArcher, for creating this great book tag in 2015! Go show her some love by dropping by her channel. Thanks!

What is a popular book or series you didn’t like?

Okay, I couldn’t get through this book. First of all, because it had sexual content that I was NOT comfortable with, and second, because this book was just so….unreal. I thought it would be, at the least, realistic for it is a coming-of-age narrative, but it wasn’t. I just really didn’t like this book.

What is a popular book or series that everyone else hates, but you love?

So….I really couldn’t think of one that I love but everyone else hates…I just couldn’t think of one. Instead, I am going to tell y’all a series that I think needs so much more attention! The Wingfeather Saga!!!

What is a love triangle in a book or series where the main character ended up with the person you did not want them to end up with?

In the Hunger Games, Katniss ends up with the character that I really wished she hadn’t. At the beginning of this series, I liked the character she eventually ended up with. However, as the story progressed, I began to dislike him more and more.

What is a popular book genre that you hardly reach for?

Erotica…it’s just…gross.

What is a popular or beloved character that you do not like?

Harry Potter. I don’t like him. He is annoying, whiny, selfish, and isn’t nice to the ever loyal and loving, Ron Weasley.

Who is a popular author that you can’t seem to get into?

J.K. Rowling. I do not like her because she is a big copy-cat of my absolute FAVORITE author, J.R.R. Tolkien.

What is a popular book trope that you are tired of seeing?

I am really tired of love triangles. In my opinion, if you are in love with two people at the same time and can’t decide which one you love more, then you do NOT love either of them enough to create something deeper and more intimate. Love triangles just get on my nerves. The only one I can tolerate is the love triangle in The Hobbit movies 2 & 3.

What is a popular book or series that you have no interest in reading?

I really have no, absolutely ZIP-O, interest in reading any of the Twilight books.

What is a movie or TV show adaption of a book or series that you like more than the book/s?

I think I like the Hobbit movies SLIGHTLY better than the book. Although, it is pretty close.

  1. Oh no, you DID NOT. JK Rowling is the best author there is and Harry is anything but selfish ( I kinda agree with you annoying and whiny)😂😂
I agree with you on Twilight though, I stopped reading after the first 3 chapters, I think.
    Loved this tag!!
Didn’t mean to be rude, I’m just a Potterhead 😂

  2. Heyyy!! I can’t believe you’re mot a JK Rowling fan I absolutely love her (I kind of agree about Harry Potter though 😂😂) (also not smashing your opinion at all I just love Harry Potter😁). I do agree with you about Twilight – I tried reading it and forced myself through it and just I really didn’t enjoy it. Also I love JRR Tolkien and yeah I’m with you about the movie adaptation – I think it’s because they added some more interesting plot points to the story and there was more Legolas (I love him!!) 😊. Love this tag and I loved your answers 😁

    1. Yeah, more of Legolas! I know! He does not get enough attention from the LOTR, so I’m glad they put more of him in the Hobbit. Yeah, not a J.K. Rowling fan…sorry. I’m honestly kinda curious that you love both LOTR and HP. Most people I know either love Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. I admire that you can love both. (I certainly couldn’t, haha!) Thanks for stopping by! xoxo

      1. I completely agree with you!!! More Legolas!! Oh well … Oh that’s interesting!! I fell in love with HP first and then I did a creative writing workshop and was reintroduced to LOTR and it just grabbed me Tolkien’s work and fantasy weaving really intrigued me and now here I am 😊. Wow thanks? 😁 Of course I really enjoyed your post!!

  4. Great post! I am guessing you wanted Katniss to end up with Gale, I wanted that to happen too! Also, I agree that Harry isn’t as great as people portray him to be. I like the subsidiary characters much more! Especially Sirius and Fred!

  5. Well, I love both HP and Lord of the Rings- fell in love with HP first and then LOTR. That opinion isn’t going to change.

Hunger Games and Twilight- two series I dislike (HG: premise too gruesome for me and T: don’t like vampires)

    1. I think it is cool that you like both HP and LOTR!! There are few who do, and I’ll admit it, it sometimes causes lots of biases. But, whatever. 😉 Yeah, Hunger Games is dark, but really good…I understand your reasons for not wanting to read it. Also, Twilight is just so dumb and not well-thought-through. Thanks for reading, Meg!

      1. Really…maybe I’m not right about that…but I’ve known one person who really liked both series. Only one…maybe I live under a rock…but, yeah. 😉
