Let’s Talk Bookish: March 19th

Hey! How’s it going? Reading anything good currently. I’m technically not reading anything currently…but, it is only a matter of time. 😉

Anyway, to the LTB. Just y’all know, I didn’t do last weeks LTB cause it was all about blogging and booktubing, which I don’t do, so I sat that one out.

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by me (Rukky@EternityBooks) and Dani @ Literary Lion, where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts.

DIVERSITY IN BOOKS (RUKKY)

What do you think is the meaning of diverse?

Ranging from anything to everything. Diverse books should break molds and throw off cliches and tropes.

Who do you think is qualified to write a diverse book?

Anyone who truly has a good idea that they are willing to work very hard to come to fruition. NOT someone who is in it for the money.

How do you find diverse books to read?

Local library usually has books that are not trending, were never trending, are weird, and yet awesome and diverse.

What are some diverse topics/POVs that you specifically look for when you’re finding books and why?

I love stuff that is set in VERY different cultures and eras. Like, One Half from the East by Nadia Hashimi was very interesting for it was set in modern day Afghanistan.

POVs can be a little tricky for me, cause many a time it will work or won’t. I’ve read books with POVs from an animal, and it was amazing…and then I read one that seemed to have been written by a 10-year-old. So, I can’t think of one POV that doesn’t fail be acclaimed as lovable and diverse.

How do you decide if a diverse topic/POV is done well?

Usually by the sense of emotion and logic it conveys. It has to be balanced. If a certain topic or POV gets me worked up one way or another, I’d say it was done well. If the topic or POV makes sense and doesn’t have GLARING plot holes, then I’d consider it as well done.

That’s all for today. What are y’all’s thoughts on this topic? What makes a diverse topic good? Have you read any good diverse books?

Thanks for reading! See ya next week! God bless!

Ciao.

A listener needs a listener too.
